Wes Anderson is very unique, and you won’t find his style of humor or mise-en-scene anywhere else. He was influenced by the French New Wave, which took place in France in the 60’s. Try watching Truffaut or Godard. I recommend ‘Breathless’ by Truffaut. Also try ‘the squid and the whale’ by Noah Baumbach. Noah co-wrote Life Aquatic with Wes, and ‘The squid and the whale’ is quite similar, they both deal with dysfunctional families.
